Kickin’ Kudu is a high-animal-protein raw meal built around free-range kudu muscle meat, supported by kudu heart and lung for additional protein, iron and naturally occurring B vitamins.
Beef black tripe and lung add animal protein, texture and palatability, while kudu liver, beef kidney and spleen each perform a targeted nutritional role. Liver contributes vitamin A, copper and folate; kidney provides selenium and B vitamins; and spleen supplies naturally occurring haem iron.
Whole Atlantic mackerel is our Kickin’ Kudu’s dedicated fish, providing natural marine EPA and DHA, vitamin D, selenium and animal fat. Free-range whole egg adds choline, phospholipids, essential amino acids and naturally occurring arachidonic acid—particularly valuable in this recipe which is designed for growth and reproduction.
A carefully controlled amount of meaty duck carcass provides natural edible bone, calcium and phosphorus. Unlike our adult-only formula, the mineral system in Kickin’ Kudu is specifically designed around the tighter requirements of growing dogs, where both too little and too much calcium can be undesirable for them.
Sunflower oil provides essential linoleic acid (omega-6) while flaxseed oil provides ALA omega-3. Together with the EPA and DHA from Atlantic mackerel, this creates a deliberately balanced essential-fatty-acid profile rather than relying on the variable fat content of naturally lean game meat.
The Kickin’ Kudu difference: green-lipped mussel + turmeric
Kickin’ Kudu goes beyond simply meeting protein and mineral requirements.
Green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) provides naturally occurring marine lipids and other compounds that have been specifically studied in dogs for joint comfort and mobility. Controlled canine studies have reported improvements in measures of mobility, pain or osteoarthritis-associated function with green-lipped-mussel-containing diets or preparations.
Turmeric contributes naturally occurring curcuminoids, including curcumin, which have been studied for their interaction with inflammatory and oxidative pathways.
Pumpkin, zucchini, carrot and spinach provide modest fibre and plant variation, while oregano adds another distinctive botanical element without allowing the meal to be plant heavy.
The finished recipe is 58.5% kudu-derived and 94.9% animal-derived.
